Virtual Plans and Instructions

Procedures for Virtual Learning:
1) Mandaree Public School #36 will use Google Classroom and/or Rooms as a communication resource to provide assignments to our students who are doing virtual instruction. Google Meets, Zoom or Mail will be used for classroom teachers to check in with students and/or parents.
a) PK-5 teachers will be online using Google Meet or Zoom for 20-25 minutes in the a.m. and 20-25 minutes in the p.m. to check for student understanding of the lesson for each half of the day.
b) Grades 6-8 teachers will use Google Meet or Zoom for each class that consists of the 4 content areas (ELA, Math, Science, and Soc. Studies). 30 minutes with each class to make sure they understand the content being shared is the goal of this time with students.
c) Grades 9-12 teachers will use Google Meet for each class synchronous to the bell schedule. 30 minutes with each class to make sure they understand the content being shared is the goal of this time with students. The rest of there schedule will be used for office hours or questions for help with the teacher.
2) When the school is notified by a parent of a situation that arises with their child/children, the principal or superintendent will notify the teacher(s) that virtual learning will begin. A return-to-school date will be set between the parent and administration at the same time.
a) Issues that could arise in a virtual setting could include but not be limited to;
i) Multiple children in the home having to be online at the same time and access to technology being limited for the family
ii) A lack of wifi at the home;
iii) Children being in a setting where technology is unavailable.
3) Regular communication with email and or Google Meet will be established between the teacher and student/parent while their child(ren) are out of the building. Depending on the age of the child, this communication can vary.
4) Participation and attendance will be monitored through Google Classroom with evidence that students are working on and completing assignments on time. Participation in teacher-led meetings will also be an indicator of attendance.
a) Camera must be on for all participants and instructors.
5) All certified staff are expected to update Google Classroom daily with assignments for students in virtual learning. Feedback and support for learning should happen 2 or 3 times a week until the student returns to the school building.
a) For short-term virtual learning, such as storm days, work that is done online will be of a review nature. No new learning will be expected for storm days.
